About my illustrator . . .
Hello! My name is Gabriela, and I am a children’s book illustrator from Southern California. Looking up to some of my favorite artists growing up such as Eric Carle, Mary Blair, and Quentin Blake led me to study and pursue a career in illustration. I graduated from Cal State University of Fullerton in 2021, where I received my BFA in Illustration. I’ve had the opportunity to illustrate books for Lawley Publishing and Con Todo Press. I mainly work digitally using the Procreate app on my iPad, and enjoy incorporating simple shapes, different textures, and bright colors in my illustrations. As a Latina artist, I have felt encouraged to create work that explores a sense of my culture and have made it my goal to continue representing underrepresented voices in my work.
Additionally, I am pursuing a saster's degree in bilingual education, with the goal of becoming a bilingual (Spanish) teacher for elementary schools.

Silkie the Chicken
Silkies come in many colors, including patterned varieties of brown, gray and black, just like Roscoe!
What color (or colors) will your Silkie be?
Willie the Worm
Willie is my personal addition to the cast of characters in What Is the Shape of My Egg?, a lovable earthworm who lives happily among the Sisters.
While reading, be sure to count how many times Willie appears throughout the book. Be sure to LOOK CLOSELY!
